The Final EUMEDIS International Conference has been convened at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (Egypt). The conference took place under the auspices of MCIT.
The main objectives of the Conference are to exchange the experiences and discuss the achieved results, to promote the dissemination of pilot projects' outputs towards authorities and investors and to increase the visibility of the projects in the region, to create a consolidated and accessible memory of best practices and achievements, to make proposals for future Information Society (IS) programmes in the region.
Prof. Reem Bahgat, Deputy Director for IT and Documentation of Tangible Heritage, Center for Documentation of Cultural and Natural Heritage (CULTNAT), is a member in the Egyptian National Commission for UNESCO (Egnatcom), which is a consortium of UNESCO, ALECSO and ISESCO, that is interested in spreading cultural and raising the education level within different fields.
Dr. Hala Barakat, Deputy Director for Natural and Intangible Heritage of CULTNAT, attends the meetings of the "Man and Biosphere" (MAB) sub-committee which is one of the sub-committees of the Egyptian National Commission for UNESCO (egnatcom) affiliated to the Ministry of High Education, headed by Mr. Mohamed Safwat Salem
The Interactive Salon, was hosted by Intermedia Department of the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts. It focuses on the interdisciplinary collaboration forms between the cultural heritage community, ICT-developers, researchers and creative industry. Projects from EPOCH, CULTNAT, the Interactive Institute, SICS and Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities had been invited to serve as the crème de la crème of how new technology and concepts can improve visitor communication and interpretation at art museums, culture historical museums, science centers and heritage sites.

The Egyptian Center for Documentation of Cultural and Natural Heritage (CULTNAT) is on its way to be the Thematic Contact Point for Cultural Heritage
The International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) is perhaps the only global non-governmental organization concerned with all aspects of conserving and protecting architectural and archaeological heritage. Along with the World Heritage Center (WHC) professional, ICOMOS studies nominations to the World Heritage List and makes final decisions. There are 120 National Committees of ICOMOS. In collaboration with the Head of ICOMOS Egypt, Dr. Zahi Hawass, CULTNAT aims to empower and intensify the activities of our the Egyptian National Committee.
